Sean “Diddy” Combs, the iconic music mogul and entrepreneur, was arrested in New York City by federal agents on Monday following a sealed indictment from the Southern District of New York. The charges, which have not yet been disclosed, are believed to be related to ongoing allegations of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and the distribution of illegal substances.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment, emphasizing that Combs had cooperated with authorities and relocated to New York before the charges. Agnifilo maintained that Combs is “an imperfect person but not a criminal” and looks forward to clearing his name in court.
The arrest comes amid a wave of lawsuits filed against Combs, including accusations from former girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, who alleged years of physical and sexual abuse. Combs has denied the claims and is settling with Ventura out of court in November. Despite his previous denials, a leaked hotel surveillance video from 2016 showing Combs assaulting Ventura led to a public apology earlier this year.
Federal investigators have been scrutinizing Combs since March, when search warrants were executed at his homes in Miami and Los Angeles, following interviews with multiple individuals connected to allegations of sex trafficking and misconduct.
Combs is expected to appear in court soon as the case unfolds, with more details likely to emerge. This marks a significant development in the long-standing legal challenges the music titan has faced in recent months, potentially adding to a series of lawsuits that continue to surface.
